Blog-finity?

While I value the idea of being familiar with how blogs are created for this assignment, I do feel that the online world is being crippled by the musings and blatherings of a seemingly infinite number of self-important and self-absorbed people with too much time on their hands. I wonder how much longer so many will remain afflicted with dear-diary-itis... That said, there are a few bloggers who are literate, creative, funny, and informative. This isn't all that surprising--for the few stand-outs among the thousands mirror precisely what I've found to be true for printed books. Among the thousands of books published every year, there are a few that are outstanding, but many more that reflect an average or below-average level of talent.

  1. Interesting Postings!
You might want to check out colleague post: http://ranchodelibro.blogspot.com/
as she seems to share your point of view.

I know one thing library school showed me how to to is become a "human scanner". To read (i.e. human scan) say six required books in a week, and pull out the relevant points (or at least I thought I did) Remember this?

Now, in the "real" world, inundated with books, journals, blogs, etc. I continue to use my human scanner abilities, knowing the weaknesses of them, and so gather collegue's thoughts on a subject, important thoughts I might have missed.

This is entirely with the hope that we are "scanning" outstanding materials. Glad you are with us to supply some of those good points of view!, as I detest human scanning of diaryitis as well.
